Amsterdam is a city of water, but taking a dip in the inner city? That wasn't a given until recently. Now the Marineterrein is officially recognized as a swimming spot, a historic decision for the city. Here you swim in clear water with a panoramic view of Amsterdam's skyline, with the iconic Maritime Museum and the futuristic Nemo Science Museum in the background.

The Marineterrein is the perfect place for recreation. On summer days, Amsterdammers spread their towel out on the jetties and lawns to sunbathe and enjoy the peace and quiet. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, a mix of locals, creatives and water lovers.

"A day at the Marine Park feels like a mini vacation in your own city-with swimming, sunbathing, drinks and a good glass of beer as the perfect ingredients."

Warm up in Kuuma's sauna

After a refreshing swim, there's nothing better than warming up in Kuuma's wood-fired sauna. This minimalist designed sweat house on the waterfront offers a moment of peace in the middle of the city. Take a seat, breathe deeply and enjoy the combination of warmth and outdoor air-a Scandinavian experience in the heart of Amsterdam.

Drinks at Hannekes Boom & beer at Homeland

After swimming, it's time for drinks. Hannekes Tree, within walking distance of the Marine Park, is one of the city's most popular spots to enjoy the sunset with a beer in hand. With colorful chairs, live music and a laid-back vibe, it almost feels like you're at a festival site.

For the ultimate closure, stroll over to Homeland, where brewers experiment with unique beers. From crisp saisons to hearty stouts, here you can taste the city in a glass. Combine it with lunch on the sunny terrace and you have a perfect day on the waterfront.
